I think President Obama showed up at the debate. President Obama has never been a good debater. If anything he was just shown as he really is as a debater. All of his speeches have been hollow of content and thought. If you don't believe me, read them, don't listen to or watch his speeches, read them. He is great at reading a prepared speech and only that because he is so bland a speech maker that most of his followers project on him their own wishes. Compound this with never being challenged on any of his points of views by media or political opponents and he showed exactly what kind of debater he is.
This is not a comment on any of his view points, though I disagree with most of them, but they are not what is relevant on identifying how well he did in this debate. Being able to argue a point of view, any point of view, is not a comment on the rightness or wrongness in that point a view. A good debater could argue the most foolish policies and win a debate. Look at JFK verses Nixon, where anyone that could see the debate said JFK won.... As a side note, most of the people who listened to or read the debate after argue that Nixon won. So if anything, it could be argued that this is more a comment on how good President Obama looked during the debate. He looked bad.
